Who Are We?Each year our RYLA program is run by a dynamic team of young volunteers who have all participated in the RYLA program before.
Passionate about community and giving back, our RYLA team are responsible for organising the program delivered each December and ensuring it's relevance in leadership development for our district's future change makers. Comprised of a facilitation and management team, our leadership team work together to support participants throughout the week, engaging in lively discussions prompted by sessions and workshops from each day. Our management team are also responsible for the catering of the entire program with the menu always being a highlight each year. |
Rotary's Commitment to Youth
The Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) was born when the Rotary Club of Brisbane was asked to assist the State Government of Queensland to organise a Centenary Celebration in 1959. The festival titled Gundoo, was developed for young people with all activities aimed at youth aged 17 - 23 years old to honour the Queen's representative, Princess Alexandra.
From its origins, RYLA is now an internationally run Rotary program with a focus on encouraging and strengthening young peoples leadership skills and personal development.

Who Pays For RYLA?
Each RYLA candidate is sponsored by a Rotary Club from District 9800. The cost of sponsoring a candidate is used to pay for venue hire, speakers and catering throughout the program. The sponsoring Rotary Club is also responsible for transporting the participant to and from the venue. This means that aside from your $50 Application fee, participation in the program is completely free for you.
